Task: Establishing a Premium Brand

Sampling campaign to trial innovative toothpaste formulas and flavours

In Northern and Eastern Europe R.O.C.S. toothpaste and oral care has enjoyed a rapidly growing market share with its stunning packaging, and creative marketing together with a unique patented 'Mineralin' toothpaste formula containing Bromeline and Xylitol.

It has a range of fabulous flavour combinations which is aimed at four distinct age groups - Adults/Teens/Kids/Baby. Adult flavours including Lemon & Mint, Double Mint, Chocolate & Mint, whilst for teens and kids fruit flavours make daily teeth cleaning motivational and interesting.

Hartwell Smith Associates put together a comprehensive launch plan for R.O.C.S. including a strategy that looked towards department stores, quality pharmacies, and premium grocery outlets. They developed an approach to trade buyers offering free sampling and trial for new consumers. It was important that people experienced the quality and range of flavours of the product. One major West End department store agreed to run a trial for 1 month and were so impressed with the results and consumer enthusiasm, they listed the range.

The momentum continued, Harvey Nichols were identified as having a small range of luxury toothpaste and would make an ideal retail partner. After approaching Head office R.O.C.S. was listed in all 8 branches including the prestigious Knightsbridge outlet. Since then the product has gone from strength to strength.

Deniss Kalinkin, Marketing manager of R.O.C.S said "R.O.C.S. Toothpaste wanted a reliable partner in the UK to help us achieve our distribution objectives. Hartwell Smith Associates have really helped us with our strategy and already achieved listings and sales for the brand. Steve Smith has the energy, experience and the knowledge to get in front of key buyers and decision makers and get a result".
